Awwllllright! Plastic came yesterday, finally. Wally Walk in the works, as well as a Costco Constitutional. Take heart folks. I honestly thought that by the time I got my CHL, it would be irrelevant as "only "outlaws would have guns." A fact that some of you in the Waiting Room might be interested in is the DPS website still said "Processing Application" even after I opened the mail yesterday. They need to spend some of the thousands of dollars that we pay in fees to hire more temps.

Anyway, the long wait is over!!

I don't understand something. We are highly organized and highly motivated. Why do we all fend for ourselves here? Even though I got my CHL renewal done I would be more than willing to sign a petition, or letter in a group which puts much more pressre than individual calls and might actually fix the underlying problem.

I live in Harris county and work in Galveston county. I'm not happy to hear the "Ike" story is holding these up.

Checked the mail when I got home yesterday....I am now officially licensed to carry a concealed handgun!!

79 days from the day I mailed the application until the day I got the license. So, for all you guys who are close to the same numbers.....keep those fingers crossed, it shouldn't be too long.

I may have been too optimistic when I assumed the month of plastic in my signature line...may need to be changed to 5/ /09

So i call the Pasadena office and talked to a lady named Barbara and she said to send her the email and this is the response i got from her.

Thank you for contacting our office regarding your CHL application. the TxDPS has a backlog due to the increase of applications. It is taking longer to get the background checks completed in a timely manner. They got behind during Ike. However, I will check on the status and let you know something asap.

I also sent one to Representative Larry Talyor but have not recieved anything from him yet. Going on 91 days as of today.??

UPDATE:
I got a call from Repersentative Larry Talyor office today from one of the reperesentatives liaison and he told me he had contacted DPS. About 20 mins later I got a call from the DPS office , and they said they were expiditing my application immediately, because the rep had called them about my email. Thank you to Representative Larry Talyor office.
