*pulls up a chair in the back*

Applied online -- 6/4
CHL class -- 6/16
Mailed packet -- 6/28 (delayed due to being sent out of town for work unexpectedly)
"Processing Application" -- 7/11
"Application Completed - license issued or certificate active" -- 8/7
Arrived in mailbox -- 8/10 (44 days mailbox to mailbox)

As with everyone, hoping for a quick turnaround :)

Good luck.

While waiting is hard for some, getting a letter from DPS that doesn't contain a plastic card can be a shock.

Almost as bad as a letter from a lawyer you never heard of, or the IRS.

Status flipped to..... Application Completed - license issued or certificate active today!!!

41 days from when I mailed it. Not too shabby. Now I just have to wait for it to arrive. Why do I think the next few days are going to be longer than the last 41? ;-)

I checked my status today. I was very shocked to read -

"Application Completed - license issued or certificate active"

My timeline:

June 02, 2007 - CHL Course at Lonestar Handgun in San Antonio
June 04, 2007 - Mailed packet to DPS/CHL
June 06, 2007 - DPS officially received packet
July 02, 2007 - Received Pin by Email After Calling DPS/CHL
July 27, 2007 - Found out CHL Instructor goofed up my TR100 Form
July 30, 2007 - CHL instructor sent corrected TR100 to DPS and me
August 02, 2007 - Received new TR100. Drivers License incorrect
August 02, 2007 - Notified CHL instructor again.
August 03, 2007 - Received third TR100 form, this time correct.
August 08, 2007 - Application Completed, License Issued or certificate active.

Days to process = 63. I'm hoping to receive the plastic soon. I figure door to door the process will have taken 67 - 70 days, even with all the problems with my instructor goofing up the TR100 forms. I was prepared to go until August 29th. The DPS/CHL extended me for 60 days on June 29th because the instructor didn't complete the TR100 form right three times.

Time to do the dance. :anamatedbanana

Mine arrived in the mail today. 44 days mailbox to mailbox.

:woohoo

Tonight was date night with the wife, so I didn't get to do the wally walk. Instead we went to the range and shot a few boxes of ammo each :) Then we went to a pretty crowded downtown area where we had dinner in an outdoor cafe.

Amazingly enough, nobody noticed and started a massive panic wave... Felt nice to finally be able to carry it though.
