Its an exciting thing to see for sure! Wait til it says MAILED. It's hard not to get excited about that.

Maybe you'll do a wally-walk soon!
I carry every day since its arrival. Didnt much care for the attention of open carry. I did have lunch the other day open carry, two Texas Rangers gave me a glance i glanced back with a nod and they didnt seem to care one bit. Nice feeling.

I'm literally in the same boat as you! Actually a day ahead; background check under review since 11/21/16. I called and got the same "high volume" message, but i kept calling back. Eventually after 35 min on hold, a rep answered and said they were still working on my app and could not give me anymore info. Of course i was of the "Thanks for nothing" mindset at that point. I don't know which is worse, the wait for my LTC or the wait for my NFA tax stamps. :cryin
I know the feeling... my background and finger print was stuck on under review from 11/17/16 till Monday 2/13/17 when it went to print pending and changed again on Thursday 2/16/17 when it changed to mailed .. all I can say is hang in there..

Background should pass through fairly quick since I have a security clearance, right?

:patriot:
I don't think having a clearance does anything for you. The key is, do you have a squeaky clean record? I've had a Secret clearance for over 28 years, but had a misdemeanor charge back in 1993 that held me up.

Status updated to mailed this morning! Once I receive it, I'll repost the full timeline.

I found that the full timeline posts were helpful in reducing my anxiety during this process.

Greetings from New Jersey! Joined these forums today.

New Jersey resident here. My Texas LTC arrived today in the mail. The primary significance for me in the near term is that it is one of only a few LTC's recognized by the State of Pennsylvania. I hope to soon experience concealed carry for the first time(I am 64 yo.) Carry (open or concealed) is something that we mere mortals in NJ are denied outside of our home.

The full timeline was as follows:

- 12/29/2016: Submitted my online application to the Texas DPS.
- 1/04/2017: Fingerprints taken at IdentoGO in Dallas, Tx.
- 1/07/2017: Training class taken in Dallas, Texas.
- 1/17/2017: Mailed supplemental materials (e.g. NJ drivers license, passport photos, etc.) to the Texas DPS via USPS Certified mail.
- 1/21/2017: Supplemental materials arrived at the Texas DPS. *** The wait clock starts ticking here. ***
- 2/10/2017(approx): Status first appears on the Texas DPS website. Shows all steps completed(Green) and the last step "Print Pending"
- 2/15/2017: Status shows as "Mailed".
- 2/21/2017: Received Texas "License to Carry Hangun" in the mail.

Over the course of the last six years, I had the opportunity to spend about a year in Texas on business. Most recently several weeks in Dallas during which I was able to pursue this process. Being a firearms owner in the oppressive State of New Jersey, I would like to take this opportunity to say how wonderful I feel from a 2A perspective when I am in Texas. The feeling of freedom is truly palpable compared to what I have to live with here.

Am very excited for all of you that live there and wish you all the best. Don't ever become complacent in fighting for your 2A rights!

Best regards, Art

I've been following this thread for a few months but finally decided to register today and post my wait times so far.

LTC class: 1/15/17
Application submitted: 1/20/17
Finger printing: 1/27/2017
Finger prints & documents received/background check under review: 2/3/17
Print pending: 2/22/17
mailed: ?

Both me and my wife went through the process together and all of our status updates have happened at the same time. I had really expected it to take 2-3 months because both of us had a misdemeanor arrest on our record from over 20 years ago. We did list the arrest on our applications along with the a full disposition and neither one of us was asked for any additional documents. Compared to others it doesn't seem like it really added much if any wait time to our approvals. It might have helped that we have both lived in Harris county our entire lives and both of our arrest also took place in Harris county. Hopefully this will help with those of you that may have a similar past. Now come on DPS mail that plastic!

I am thinking it helps if you let them know on your original paperwork. My wife did not as she did not think the arrest would show on her record at all. My opinion is it should not, but it does. If disclosed up front, it likely speeds things up.

More than likely if you live locally, it will be faster. I also listed offense, place and outcome but I am from out of state. No movement until I sent the abstract from MS.
