#1

Post by Twincannons »

Dec. 20 will the last IDPA match at Terrell Rifle and Pistol Club. As always your match fees include lunch and refreshments. Setup time is at 7 o'clock am, signin at 8 o'clock and rounds downrange at about 9 o'clock after the safety meeting. Everyone is invited to come on out and have a great time away from those last minute shoppers, as always New Shooters young and old are welcome to come on out.

2008 was a very good year for IDPA at Terrell.

Our monthly match attendance just keeps growing.

The December Match had around 50 shooters and guests.
None of this would have been possible without the support of our Board of Directors and all of our great Safety Officers and Volunteers who help each and every month.

In 2008 we held an IDPA Safety Officer Course which was attended by around 20 members and guests.

With Safety Officer input, we made several changes in the way matches were squadded and run. This greatly reduced "Standing Around" time.

We purchased several new reactive targets that added greater challenge to the scenarios.

Our Club participated in the 2008 IDPA World Wide Postal Match with our own Roy Plumlee Sr. placing 11th out of over 4,000 shooters.

By encouraging new shooter participation we were able to introduce at least 50 shooters to IDPA.

We also (thanks to Steve Johnson) are able to distribute "IDPA New Shooter Information Packets" to new shooters.

With the new administration in Washington gun sales are going through the roof.

New interest in home defense and self protection and increased CHL Licensing should and has helped IDPA at Terrell.

In 2009 we are looking at the possibility of building at least two small tactical ranges and berms to have more stages at the matches.

We are also purchasing new reactive targets to make new stages a real challenge to new as well as experienced shooters.

We need to encourage new and especially lady shooters to attend, they are the ones that need to know how to SAFELY use a handgun in stressful self-defense scenarios.

Thanks to all the great people at Terrell for 2008 and looking forward to 2009.
