SOF Item concerning Texas CHL holders

#1

Post by TEX »

Soldier of Fortune magazine recently had an item mentioning that Texas had passed several pro-gun bills, one of which was a law allowing employees to keep their handguns in their vehicle on a company parking lot if they have a CHL. I thought that this bill was shot down. Did I miss something, or did SOF get it wrong?

I am not 100% for sure, but I believe that is the only one that was not passed.

"He's dead Jim." ;-)

It'll be re-introduced (maybe wordsmithed a little differently) like it never happened before...

I'll admit it's been a few years since I've read a copy of SoF, but they've never been proclaimed as the model of journalistic integrity.

If you don't follow the legislative maneuvers like a fanatic, it's easy to get confused. I receive e-mails from the NRA all the time about such-and-such bill passing the federal house or senate or a state legislature.

That's nice, but it only counts when it has passed into law.

So bottom line is that the law is the same in a vehicle on company property, whether you have a chl or not, right? :?:

I'm not sure what your question is.

If an employer forbids weapons in employees' vehicles on company property, they can fire people who are caught violating the policy. Depending upon the wording of the notice, violators could be arrested.

IMHO, most companies won't want the publicity.
