Plastic came in today. 30 days from receipt by DPS until in hand. Quite a long time in manuf. process, but still fairly quick overall. I saw that someone sent in packet after mine had already gone to manufacturing and received theirs before me. Now that's strange, even with machine problems. Maybe the DPS doesn't do this in-house but has different vendors doing the physical license manuf.? It doesn't matter. In hand.

On-Line App - 6/19
L-1 fingerprints - 7/5

As of 7/15, on-line status shows still awaiting fingerprints.

hmmm ..

Called L-1 and they traced and show FPs sent to DPS/FBI on the 5th.
Responded same day ...

Called DPS ... give us a week and check back ...

:thewave

I'm still waiting.

E-mail goes unanswered and phone calls are fruitless.

Any suggestions?

CHL Time Line

July 24 2011 - DPS application, pass port photos at Walgreens

July 26 2011 - called DPS as there was an error in there system, informed would be corrected in 24-48 hours (L1 said DPS had high volume of applications slowing finger print registration)

July 28 2011 - setup for prints

July 29 2011 - prints done and background check copy requested to mailed

August 6 2011 - CHL test, background information received

August 8 2011 - mailed to DPS via USPS express (no signature required)

August 9 2011 - delivered (passed through several zip codes and addresses all linked to DPS / CHL departments)

August 11 2011 - online (application STATUS and background STATUS showing "yellow !")

August 12 2011 - Called DPS, waiting on them to scan prints and manufacture license, was told back ground was done and super clean but not updated online yet, they should be done in a week but give them 2 weeks, but they still have 50+ days if they want to take there time according to DPS rep. Nice people on the phone today

**August 12 2011 - activated my membership with [Pre-paid legal service]

Birthday is August 20th, maybe I will get a good gift in the mail around then

7/20 - wife mailed her package
7/22 - DPS acknowledged receipt in Austin
8/16 - CHL delivered

This is 17 working days. I monitored the status on-line. Seems like it took almost as long in the "manufacturing stage" as the rest of the processing time combined. It also took almost a week from the time it was mailed until it delivered. I guess the lesson is that the DPS is much more efficient than the UP Postal Service... but is that a surprise?

I'm getting a little nervous right now. I'll be leaving soon for a road-trip to LA and was hoping to travel with my plastic.

My CHL has been manufacturing since August 10th. :headscratch

That's the fastest I've seen in my short time on the forum. Is anyone keeping track if that is a new record?

I'm sure it was, but be grateful! I don't remember the exact number of days but my vote in this poll was between 86-100.
