Recent trip to the Dark Continent.

A buddy, his wife, and I went to South Africa a couple weeks ago. What a blast. We booked with Russ Field Safaris, http://www.southafricanhunting.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, and Johan van Zyl of Gnu Safaris, http://www.gnusafaris.co.za" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Here are a "few" pics of our hunt. BTW, I shot all but the kudu with a handgun.

More of the pics can be seen at http://www.flickr.com/photos/12705113@N ... 1360/show/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And my greater kudu with a broken third horn in the middle of his forehead.

Very nice. I really like the Gemsbock. Horns look long. Is that record book size? I am guessing it is.

All of them are gonna be nce to eat. Hint: To take out the wild smell, i soak the meat cuts in ice for several days to leech the capillary blood out.
Should taste like beef afterwards . But some dont and its fine.
Congrats on those kills. If u dont mind me asking? Do u have them made into sausages and other stuff so u can bring it home ? Or just donate them ? US Customs by the way prohibit any meat products from entering unless u have the import license such as meat import business.

Unfortunately, we weren't allowed to bring any back so we did our best to sample some of the meat while there. If I recall, at a minimum we got to eat some springbok, wildebeest and gemsbok.

How far was the shot with your revolver, and what caliber were you using? BTW, is that a Ruger?

THe Kudu and Gemsbok are the best ones. Quite exotic in their looks alone.

The revolver shot was at about 35 yds. after an initial shot with the Encore....and a wild chase. The Super Redhawk is in .480 Ruger and the Encore is in .308 Win.
