No, being caught in a fence and dying of thirst/starvation is a cruel death. A euthanizing shot with a high caliber rifle and the buck won't even know what hit him. Nature is cruel. Remember, wild animals do not see doctors nor dentists. For an old deer to die of starvation due to bad teeth is cruel. To be euthanized after living free for 4 to 5 years before it dies of old age is the most humane way to harvest an animal. Game meat is also free range and organic. It is very healthy stuff.

Most liberal earth muffins love free range and organic meat, but they are averse to hunting. Hunters are the biggest conservationists in North America. Without regulated hunting and the revenues of hunting licenses, there wouldn't be a resurgence of bears in Oklahoma, alligators in Texas, and an increase in the acreage of public lands. However, most liberal environmentalists are opposed to hunting. That's why liberals just don't make sense to me....

On the other hand, if you can get him healthy again and make sure he breeds, you might have more nice looking deer down the road.

Mech beat me to it. With a buck of that magnitude they will not put it out to be shot. They will keep him with all of their other monster bucks and breed him so that his offspring can have good genes for a nice racks. They will then put the offspring out in the “gen pop” so that they can be hunted. Also, this allows their business to maintain a rep for having large size bucks for years to come.

Of course, I can't find the article I read not too many days ago about the guy in West Texas who was arrested for having black bear paws and head in his possession. It seems the bear was seen on land nearby and someone killed it. Black Bears are still listed as endangered in Texas, so it is a no-no to kill them, but they are making a resurgence, thanks in part to our license fees.
