Anyone Else Going?

#1

Post by txglock21 »

Is anyone other than me going deer hunting this weekend? I'm getting a late start (have to work today). Most that ARE going are probably already gone to their leases or land. I was just sitting at my desk daydreaming and counting down the hours. :waiting:

Need to find somewhere to hunt... Can't really afford a lease, keep hoping to find someone who has some land to hunt on.

Half of my office has "disappeared" today to head to their Deer Lease. I'm working this weekend, so no Deer Hunting for me.

Same here as far as a lease. I can afford it, but not willing to pay $1000-$2000 for a couple of months of access. Luckly, I hunt on land my ex boss owns (at NO cost) and have full access to do whatever I want. Just wish it had more deer on it. They are very few and far between and it's in Red River county, so can only take a doe at Thanksgiving weekend. :grumble

I always skip the first weekend. The pressure from other hunters in the lands surrounding where I hunt causes the deer to seek shelter on our area. Usually score a nice deer every year doing this.

Man oh man, $1000/$2000 would buy a whole lotta beef and you wouldn't have to dress and butcher it yourself.

And yes, in the past, I've shot many a deer and have since lost my taste for the effort that goes into all required.

The only thing I miss is deer sausage...

Now, if I had a gun bearer and someone to clean the deer, transport the carcass to the butcher and have it made into sausage, why I'd consider getting back into it.

Plus, it's too darn hot right now for deer hunting.

Guess my being 'long in the tooth' is showing', sigh...
