Columbus, Ohio Paying Double OT to Maintain Minimum Staffing

Columbus, Ohio city leaders decided that the most senior officers weren’t “reform minded” (read “woke”) enough for their liking. So, the city, which was already short of officers, offered older officers $200,000 to retire. One hundred of those officers might not have been woke, but they weren’t stupid either – they took the offer. Details here.

Now the city has to pay double the normal salary to get officers to work overtime to fill minimum staffing. They have no idea what this will cost, or how long it will take to fill the vacancies. They’re also claiming this will save money in the long run. We'll have to wait and see if the taxpayers buy that version of new math. Meantime they'll just have to live with fewer cops in parks and other areas because the city leaders have discovered that "there are a lot of neighborhoods to cover."

More proof that you just can't fix stupid.

Meanwhile, criminal enterprises are relocating and expanding in Columbus OH, due to the more favorable business environment. In an interview with "Biggie Jones", Mr. Jones expressed his plans to expand across the city, now that there is lower police interference, which he describes as lower operating expenses. He also plans to expand on to the campus at Ohio State University to market to a new, younger clientele and recruit additional women for his personal services business.

Columbus used to have a really good ham radio store. Can't say a single other positive thing about it from the several times I visited on behalf of FedEx.
