Cubans are looting government stores.

Cuba has been off the radar for a long time.

Government troops enter Havana.

Odd that Twitter is not blocking this anti leftist information.

I've heard the crowd has been fired on in Havana.

Guess all is not well in Communist Paradise.

Joe Biden’s Cuba Statement Doesn’t Mention Beatings, Shootings of Protesters

Uncle Joe was thinking this was more about Covid than the fact that the Castros never delivered on their promise to end oppression in Cuba. Truth is that Marxism is oppression. Dictators love Marxism and use it to "justify" their unjust power.

I wish we could just buy Cuba. They have a strong dictatorship...pay them off. The investment would be worth it from a security perspective. You could probably sell off land to private companies (to recoup some investment) and make it the best vacation points in the world.

I know it is more complicated than that...but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try.

I would offer the leaders protection from prosecution. Let them take whatever cash they have stolen and admit the country as our 51 state. Return the stolen farm land to the proper heirs, let the elderly be on social security and let individuals in a house or apartment continue to stay in those homes rent free till they die.

Cuba protests: Three key issues that explain the rare unrest
2) The economic situation

With tourism - one of the engines of the Cuban economy - practically paralysed, the coronavirus pandemic has had a profound impact on the economic and social life of the island.

This has been compounded by growing inflation, blackouts, and shortages of food, medicine and basic products.

At the beginning of the year, the government proposed a new package of economic reforms that, while increasing wages, triggered a spike in prices.

Economists such as Pavel Vidal, from the Pontificia Javeriana University of Cali in Colombia estimate that prices could rise between 500% and 900% in the next few months.
Long lines of Cubans queuing up to buy goods such as oil, soaps or chicken have become commonplace during the pandemic.

Basic medicines have become scarce in both pharmacies and hospitals and in many provinces they have begun to sell pumpkin-based bread due to the lack of wheat flour.
3) Internet access

...Cuba took liberalising steps that led to greater internet connectivity on the island.

Since then, Cubans have used social networks to express their dissatisfaction with the government.

Today, a large part of the population - mainly young people - have access to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, which are their main sources of information from state and independent media.

Funny…. I just got done reading the Steven Coonts novel "Cuba" a few days ago—a fictional Cuban revolution in which a fed-up people show the commies the door.

We can send Cuba Biden, Kamala, and the DHS secretary. That should make some room for Cuban political refugees...
