Big made up controversy on whether Trump can pardon himself. Trump continues to dominate the news cycle.

Either Rudy Gulianni stumbled badly in a stupid word game of gotcha while giving an interview, talking about presidential self-pardons, or he executed a beautiful move that had the media apoplectic for a day. Either way, it does not matter. If it's the former, he needs to be more careful.

President Donald Trump has many weaknesses and faults, as do I as a member of the fallen human race. President Trump consistently, in my opinion, plays and beats the left every day by being himself and not a man whose life has been as a typical swamp politician.
I get you constant critics, President Trump doesn’t meet your high standards of decorum and doesn’t play by the political rules you’ve gotten accustomed to seeing from those who aren’t progressive socialists. So, go ahead and bash him daily if it makes you feel good about yourself and those who agree with you. I understand that you would rather be discussing the daily news about President Hillary Clinton.

Trump commuted the sentence of 63 year old Grandmother Alice Johnson who had served 21 years of a life sentence for attempted possession of cocaine.

Her plight was brought to Trump’s attention by Kim Kardashian a week ago. She was not pardoned by Obama as the justice department didn’t recommend it.

She has been a model prisoner and has been a mentor to younger women inmates.

Attempted possession sounds like she was involved with drug dealers or a cartel but didn’t actually possess any cocaine.

Trump seems to be hitting home runs with the pardons.

Melania was at an event today. Melania was recovering from surgery ya know. Trump chastised the press for her recent treatment in the press.

According to the Associated Press in 1994, Johnson helped lead a multimillion-dollar cocaine ring from 1991 to 1994. At her sentencing, US District Judge Julia Gibbons said that Johnson was “the quintessential entrepreneur” in the operation, “and clearly the impact of 2,000 to 3,000 kilograms of cocaine in this community is very significant.” She was tried on cocaine conspiracy and money laundering charges, not attempted possession.

A rhetorical question, but how does that square with Trumps position earlier this year?
Drug dealers "kill thousands of people over the course of their lives through drugs. So we’re going to have to get much, much tougher in terms of penalty. And if you want to stop it — if you look at certain countries where they have, as an example, the death penalty, and say, ‘How’s your drug problem?’ And they will tell you, ‘We don’t have much of a drug problem.’ ”

Again, rhetorical, but Is this perhaps part of a broader realization by Trump...
- that prison reform in general may be necessary?
- that federal sentencing guidelines that mandate sentences with little or no leeway in many cases may need to be rethought?
- harsher sentences may not be as effective as previously espoused?
- that conspiracy/attempt to commit a crime shouldn't be punished at the same levels as actually committing the crimes?
- that a person can change while in prison and possible leniency should be considered as part of the punishment process?
- that Trump was wrong by embracing the expansion of the death penalty in the first place?
- or another example of who you know is more important than any other factor?

I'm no fan of trump and his unending assault on the institutions of this country. His constant stream of unfounded lies both large and small (Spygate is the latest example) that go unchallenged are exasperating. Watching the apologists for this behavior is more disheartening, especially from people who wouldn't have tolerated a moment of it from any liberal. If the norm is now that only positive things can be mentioned, or anything critical is met with emotional attacks of a personal nature, or worse with a roar of deafening silence indicating acceptance, then what hypocrisy to lash out when the democrats do the same thing. If one could be labeled a snowflake for such behavior in support of an obama or hillary, then I guess we have discovered that conservative snowflakes do exist.
