Some people, including our president, seem intent on forgetting the parts of the constitution they feel are inconvenient; but,the case of illegal aliens being covered by and protected by the Constitution has been settled law for 130 years and rests on one word: "person." It is the word "person" that connects the dots of "due process" and "equal protection" in the 14th Amendment to the U.S Constitution and it is those five words that make the Constitution of the United States and its 14th amendment one of the most important political documents in our history.

They announced the Kansas City factory closing months ago. http://www.kansascity.com/news/business ... 40544.html

The factory in Thailand is old news. They already have a factory in India. I think labor cost is the real reason, seeing as how this was in the works a long time.

Anyhow, they still have a factory in York, PA and can continue to make domestic market motorbikes in the USA. That would avoid US import tariffs. Then use lower cost foreign labor to manufacture for the rest of the world. It's a smart move from a business perspective, if bad news for union members.

It also has to do with the outrageous tarriffs India and some other countries charge to import Harleys into their countries. As mentioned above, this is old news.

It's also interesting how liberals think it's fine for other countries to charge outrageous tarrifs for USA imports but don't believe the tariffs should be reciprocal. Trump offered to eliminate all US import tariffs if the other countries would do the same. None of them took him up on it.

It's tariffs, shipping costs, overseas material costs, and the fact that Americans are not buying as many motorcycles as in years past. That's all motorcycles.

The one thing I've learned so far is Trump will run his mouth about something and then next thing you know, the right outcome is achieved. It is his tactic and how he gets things done. None of these tariffs have gone into effect, they are just be threatened and it would not surprise me at all for them to go away for US products as well as imported products. That would put US manufacturing on an even playing field with the world, (even except for foreign subsidies on steal) at least in regards to import tariffs.

Harley was simply using the tariff issue to try and explain away it's crappy numbers. As said above, no tariffs have taken place yet.

Second. If Harley sells out it's country, they will soon find themselves sucking air. Harley riders are true Americans and the VAST majority are MAGA.

Third. The United States has become the trade doofus of the world under prior swamp creatures. It is high time the world quit walking all over us. If fair trade was truly what they wanted, everyone would have zero tariffs and allow market forces to decide. But that is not the goal now is it, LIberals? The goal is social engineering through financial incentive.

The socialists are done for. Red wave gonna drown out their caterwauling soon. The good news is that rebirth after death will be quite refreshing to them. Like when the forest burns and new life sprouts up from the ashes.

The EU tariff affecting harley went into effect on June 22. At least get basic verifiable facts correct.
Whether HD was in the process or not, the timing of HD's move is certainly a result of the tariffs.
