We live in a gated community of 23 homes on a private road. We have no HOA and our gate currently remains open but when it did close between 10p-6a our Sheriff Dept did patrol our area as they had a code for the gate. Now we get patrols by the SO and our Constable. Now to be honest, my wife is a retired police officer and is currently the Admin Assistant for the Sheriff so that MAY have some bearing on it. :)

As others have said it is private property and the Sheriff will not patrol. They do respond to calls. In our community we had an issue with a few residents speeding and running stop signs. The Sheriff would not patrol but would come when we called. The gated community is private property.

Can’t have your cake and eat it too. Once you deny access to the general public you take on the responsibility associated with that action as it should be.
