Stephen will be missed.

Me especially on the Big Bang Theory TV comedy.

His book on the History of Time was insightful, the parts I could understand. I bought the one later with pictures, to try and understand it better. I need to read it.

In the last few years, there were grumblings that many in the community felt he tended to take a little too much of the spotlight. This may of course be sour grapes.

I did notice he used his position to state environmental positions I disagreed with, such as manmade global warming.

However, I really cannot attribute those statements to him as I was concerned he was being manipulated by his handlers.

Sure, he was one of the smartest people in the entire world and still missed the one reason we are all here... no offense intended to atheists of average intelligence!

He had a higher IQ, the fact that he was an atheist makes an argument that IQ does not equate to smart.

agreed IQ= capacity to learn not how smart a person is. a person with a high IQ can be stupid because they dont apply themselves and learn things.

My company had about 3 different research and lab locations where they had 'the smartest of the smart' working on new development of software, features, etc. I frequently saw some of these people walking down the halls talking to their feet.

One of these guys worked for a co-worker of mine. He was brilliant and could sniff out code issues and programming errors better than the best bloodhound. However, he was so deep in the minutia when you would ask him a question he couldn't give you a sensible answer that wasn't 30,000 feet deep and confusing. We had to promote him to a Sr. Manager position to keep him from jumping ship and going to work for one of our equipment vendors. Unfortunately at that level you had to be able to make presentations to executive management and they wanted the 'Dragnet' version of 'Just the facts ma'am'.

My co-Director and I spent two weeks working with him to get him from 20-30 page presentations down to where he would produce 2-3 page ones and semi-concisely present his information. We always sent an 'answer partner' with him to address questions as if you let him do it he would take another 15 minutes explaining why this one bit did what it did and shouldn't have. :banghead:

I'm not an atheist, but I don't agree that an atheist is dumb or stupid because they are an atheist.

Just like I wouldn't agree that your religion makes you stupid because it's not the same as mine.

Just didn't want this thread to get out of hand and alienate people from a very good resource.

We have a hard enough time getting people to defend the RKBA.
