No place but Dallas.

Bikes on the recycling heap in Dallas. Mayor blames Bikeshare Company. May be it was the $800 per bike city licensing fee. Ya think.

I learned about this from a conservative gun lover in California.

Wow... $821 per bike is flat out extortion or theft!! The bikes themselves are maybe worth a 1/4 of that. (at retail!) The only "Terrible" thing here is the lack of leadership in Dallas.

Whatever could you mean?

I knew Dallas’s pension problem was worse than Houston’s, but Dallas is the new Austin, I had no idea. At least in Austin and Houston, we like bikes and feel good things like that.

I may be in the minority here, but I for one am glad to see all these bike companies leaving. (And it's not just Dallas proper) I am tired of seeing these eye sores being left all over town. In creeks, in front of businesses and especially in front of my house. If the bike companies would pick up there bikes and keep track of them better, I would have less of a problem, but they don't. They just dumped hundreds of bikes all over the area and pulled in the money. In this one instance, I applaud the City of Dallas for trying to do something about the problem. YMMV. :tiphat:

And by the way, it was an $800 one time permit fee and $21 per bike, not $821 per bike. :rules:

As I understand it, it was only $21 per bike. The $800 fee was for the company registration.

Margin's on $1 bike rentals are razor thin, especially when competing with scooters and having so many bikes destroyed or stolen.

Overall I'm glad the streets, sidewalks, and especially my alley(yes, people dumped bikes in THE MIDDLE of my alley) are clear of these bikes. Our city gov is a total mess.

Oh Dallas’s bike system was dockless. Houston’s bike sharing has docks and is very neat and orderly and seems to be used mainly by tourists. (Yes, Houston gets the rare tourist)

Never mind.

Little sympathy here for Chinese company eating a great deal of money in bikes that are no longer useful.

I have to laugh at the ingenuity of Dallas "vandals" who went to such lengths to hang the bikes from trees, lamp posts, put on billboards, etc.

Not so much the utter stupidity of the Dallas city "leaders". Hey, that undocked bicycle thing didn't work out, let's approve motorized replacements instead. :banghead:
While Dallas’s long dockless bike-share nightmare may be over, a new mode of shared transportation may soon take its place—the scooter. According to the Dallas Morning News, the same council vote that effectively curtailed the bike-share explosion also opened the way for motorized scooter companies, which had previously been prohibited in Dallas.

Sometimes I'm glad I live in a tiny podunk town in a tiny podunk county with tiny podunk problems.... anyone could have predicted that would happen.

It is important to increase regulation to stifle entrepreneurship. Otherwise, people may not need government support and vote non-Democratic Socialist.

Yep. pretty simple. Most Trump supporters sign their checks on the front, and most Obama supporters sign their checks on the back.

When Dick's decided to do the same thing with regards to the MSR's that they were no longer selling, nobody batted an eye or thought about how they could have been donated to struggling PD's. Indeed "What a waste".

They just dumped them? Why didn't anybody tell me so I could rescue a few? :banghead:
