This and one other gun forum is the extent of my social media - No FB, twitting, insta-whatever and on and on.

Plus, no so-called smart phone for me...ever.

I can live just fine without staring into a phone to maybe trip and fall down like some knuckle-heads do perhaps to fall in a mall pool or something equally stupid.

I'm probably a fossil but I don't do social media. I had Facebook for a while because of gun contests but eventually forgot the password and gave it up. I never had instatwit or snapspace.

I also don't consider forums or email lists as social media. Same for BBS systems and UUNET.

More in line with the author's point, If conservatives, abandon, social media, it will collapse, because, the only thing that perpetuates it, is the long drawn out discussions, because each time someone logs on, refreshes, a page, etc. they are exposed to all of the advertising, and click bait, that the purveyors, promise traffic, to their advertisers. Once an echo chamber, falls silent. and no one has anything to add, it becomes a dead space. While it would still take years for it's complete demise, I would love to see just such a scenario play out.
The only thing I disagree with the author about, is that, if you simply switch to a different social media, even one that doesn't censor conservatives, it will soon be invaded, and overrun, by the same basement dwellers, who spend every waking moment, on line now, and the advertiser's will follow.
They will then be in power to determine, content. JMHO

Any such "conservative/libertarian" social media platform would have to be free from advertisers and other outside influences of the content.

If only the billionaire "conservatives" who support the dead elephant party weren't globalists that will be just as happy as the avowed socialists when we are silenced.

Even a casual glance at Zuckerberg's history reveals he has always been a horrific person. If you trust him with your information, Zuckerberg has a name he used to describe you that can't be posted on this forum. His success shows that Satan is active in this world.

With certainty now Google has become evil. Those 2 companies have bought out too many of their competitors, in an attempt to dominate the free market of both social media and ideas.

I am happy to have websites like this one where honest discussions can take place.

Absolutely, Functionally it's pretty much the same thing as Facebook. Just more focused, disciplined and smaller scale. It's definitely "social" and its "media". It isn't social media just because its run by socialist and mostly inhabited by post-adolescents. Facebook and Twitter would like you to believe that they are the only forms of Social Media. But Socila media existed long before Facebook and Twitter came along.
