round these parts, we run with 1823 as the year Stephen F. Austin formed the Texas Rangers under the command of Captain Morris. That makes the Texas Rangers 195 my brother.

I finished reading read "Rangers and Pioneers of Texas" by A J Sowell about a month ago. Provides a personal look at days in Texas from the 1820's to 1880's through his eyes as a youngster to Independence to his days as a Ranger.
