This is sad, but it's not new, I'm afraid. I taught at the University of Minnesota just over 30 years ago and we had a similar situation there. In that case, we did not have a grade of F, but we had grades of D and N. N stood for no credit, but it didn't count against the student's GPA. As a faculty member, I had students come begging for an N if I passed them with a D. At least they didn't get credit for the course with an N. In Katy ISD, I guess students can't fail.

Once again, I guess, Minnesota was ahead of its time.

If schools don't teach students the consequences of not doing their work, then what will they do in the real world when they get fired for not doing their job? Ask for a "N"? We are creating a generation of people that can't compete in the real world that is worse off than the snowflakes we currently have.

In my mind it's like giving trophies just for competing.

I remember the D being dropped when my family moved to Plano. I was in 9th grade. It was A, B, C, F. We had no N...LOL.
