I have a Browning M 92 marked "44 Rem Mag" on the barrel. Is it O.K. to use .44 Special in it, i.e., are .44 Special cartridges long enough to feed properly? I have shot .44 Mag Cowboy Action loads in it and the recoil is very mild. However, the Remington .44 Mag 240 gr soft-point full power load has too much recoil (for me at least) to shoot more than one magazine full.
What say ye?
Thanks.

44 specials should work fine! It's the equivalent of using 38 specials in a 357 magnum

If you Google this you find some guns will handle .44 special and some won't. Buy a box and try it. If it doesn't handle the .44 special you can load .44 magnums light enough to simulate .44 special.

I can confirm that a .44 mag loaded using Trail Boss makes for a heck of a plinking load in a lever gun.
