The only real difference is in how many you will be able to shoot over a lifetime, year, month, or week. Shooting a couple hundred rounds a month mine will probably last as long as his will. However, he can probably get by shooting several thousand rounds a month and might still outlast mine with only a few minor replacement parts that typically wear out.

I think this is the one I bought for her. It seems to have gone up a little since I got it a year or two ago. Either that or I have misremembered how much I paid for it at my LGS.

C-dub,

Thanks for the recommendation. It looks like a nice gun, but the LOP would be just too much for me. I'm pretty short-armed and anything over about 13" is too long. Could buy it, have a gunsmith cut down the stock and put on another recoil pad, but that would add more than $100 to the price. Anyway, appreciate your help.

That’s cool. We’ve been happy with it. If your LOPis that short I would consider youth models if you haven’t already. There may be youth models for those ATI shotguns. My daughters LOP is long enough that she doesn’t need one of those.

EDIT: They do with about 12.5” lop.

I see that one is out of stock or no longer available. Oh well.

My point was that if you can find a youth model for anything you shouldn’t have to have anything cut down.

I picked up a compact Remington 1187 Sportsman in 20 gauge for my wife today at Walmart. It was on clearance for $250. You can't beat that price for a semi auto shotgun! Trying to get her to go shoot with me every once in a while, so this was perfect for our needs. Not as nice as my Beretta A300 though.
