I wish Washington would recognize >21 y.o. TX CHLs, since Texas issuing to <21 veterans and active duty is supposedly the reason why they don't recognize us at all. AZ, NM, CO,NE, WI and VA are all capable of reading the licensee's birthdate on the license, but apparently that's too difficult for WA.

I know this is a minor point, and maybe not applicable here, but under the new Illinois CCW law, any holder of valid CHL may carry their weapon in their vehicle.

"Public Act 098-0063
(e) Nothing in this Act shall prohibit a non-resident from transporting a concealed firearm within his or her vehicle in Illinois, if the concealed firearm remains within his or her
vehicle and the non-resident:
(1) is not prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm under federal law;
(2) is eligible to carry a firearm in public under the laws of his or her state or territory of residence; and
(3) is not in possession of a license under this Act.
If the non-resident leaves his or her vehicle unattended, he or she shall store the firearm within a locked vehicle or
locked container within the vehicle in accordance with subsection (b) of Section 65 of this Act."

Might be of interest to travelers.

Thanks Charles. I'm happy to help, and glad that people enjoy / use the map.

However, hopefully someday we won't need the map. :txflag: Texas continues to make great progress. Look at the map from 2006 to now.

Texas has come a long way, can't wait to turn the whole country "green"..... :)

We should be able to move that red a little more west when Nevada evaluates their reciprocity after a new law that just passed that will allow them to recognize TX CHL's.

I believe Maine also just passed a bill that will drastically open up their reciprocity agreements.

I just noticed that Washington is listed in the OP's map as recognizing Florida. I think they did at one time, but the Washington AG's web page doesn't list Florida right now: http://atg.wa.gov/concealed-weapon-reciprocity" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Also, add an A for Arizona to Nevada, as Nevada non-resident and Arizona non-resident permits are the only way to carry in Nevada, but Arizona's permit can be applied for by mail, whereas Nevada's non-resident permits have to be applied for in person.

Thanks for the heads up on the Florida / Washington, I didn't know that it was removed.

However, on the Nevada issue, a while back, Nevada stopped recognizing non-res permits from other states (Updated 3/6/2013 - Removed AZ Non-Res from Nevada) Did this change? I'll have to research this one a little more.

Maine will recognize any other state that will honor Maine's license.

Unfortunately, Texas does not recognize Maine. :???: :roll:

All appearances are that Maine is going to legalize unlicensed CCW here soon though, so it will be a moot point.

Maine's Governor LePage signed an unlicensed carry bill today. 90 days after the state legislature adjourns, unlicensed CCW will be legal (sometime in October probably). Unlicensed open carry is already legal.
