Colleges are places to learn, not die at the hands of attention-starved mass-murderers.

According to AC Police Chief Mike Duval, car break-ins and theft are the main source of crime.

Legislature must not pass gun law

Fortunately for ACU students and faculty, one of the bills under consideration would allow private universities like ACU to maintain a firearms ban. We encourage students to contact their elected officials and fight this bill. However, if it does pass, we encourage students to voice their concerns to ACU administrators to ensure the mandate does not apply on campus.

“Texas already bans concealed handguns in public places like courthouses and post offices.”

Actually that’s incorrect. Texas does not ban carrying in Post offices, but Federal law does.

Still, it’s interesting that you pick a gun free zone known for the term “going postal” Gun free zones are a concept which has failed miserably.

Did anyone else notice the glaring contradiction in the ACU editorial?

If not, then let me paraphrase. They mention that no incidents of gun violence has happened anywhere in Utah.

The next paragraph says there's no evidence that CHL on campus would deter violence.
When will these people learn?

When someone passed me an article titled, “Texas may soon allow guns on college campuses,” I didn’t know what to make of it.

Note: In Texas, 70% of gun crimes are committed with stolen guns. (We figure the rest are in Mexico.)

We want to stop providing easy access to guns through vehicular burglaries to criminals, and the Brady Campaign and their followers are inhibiting that goal of stopping easy access to guns for criminals by spreading false fears to campus leaders and students.

I actually like this article. He did a decent job of presenting both sides (although he didn't cover every aspect - like simple self defense). But this wasn't a persuasion article - he made it very clear that his emotional attachment to the VT prevents him from even rationally considering either alternative. But perhaps by presenting it the way that he did, others reading the article will recognize their own emotional baggage that gets carried into the debate.
