Colleges are places to learn, not die at the hands of attention-starved mass-murderers.

My comment:
Cody Jarmon, was a good example who disproved much of what John Woods says would occur.
____
Jamon drew a lot of attention from committee members and the audience when he pulled out a cardboard gun at the beginning of his testimony to illustrate his opposition to concealed carry on campus bills.

"My point was that how many people could I have shot if that had been a real gun? Just because you have a weapon on you doesn't make you any safer," said Jarmon.

"I still could have killed as many people as I wanted to until someone finally acted. The amount of people I could have killed is one too many. So CHL or not, you're not safe with guns on campus," said Jarmon.
____

There were in excess of 80 armed students in the room wearing concealed weapons, none shot the idiot with the cardboard gun. All he proved was that people can ILLEGALLY hide guns in backpacks, and that CARDBOARD guns make it through the metal detectors. He also proved that CHL:s who are students, like those in the room with him, are responsible and didn't over-react.

I sure do get sick of people classifying CHL holders (directly or indirectly) as common criminals that are ready to whip out a gun and start mowing people down at the drop of a hat.

It's too bad a CHL holder did not know about his little cardboard gun stunt and could have been there to "neutralize" the threat with a cardboard gun of his/her own.

Ah, yes. This is the college I work for. It is not immune to crime:

A common thread in these incidents is that the public is not made aware of even a basic physical description of either suspect. For those not familiar with Austin, Eastview is located on the east side of town. Not exactly a garden spot.

My opinion is that it was probably more expedient and politically-correct for the administration to "omit" physical descriptions, lest somebody would be offended.
