Yeah, they snuck them out in front of press, and on video. Remind me not to have them plan my surprise party.
Glad something will pass.

Woods would "feel like a victim" if he was handed $100 billJasonw560 wrote:Yeah, they snuck them out in front of press, and on video. Remind me not to have them plan my surprise party.

(Must be a conspiracy against me to force me to pay more taxes or cause my "tax free income organization" to get audited)
He probably thinks Texas set up a bicameral government long ago as a conspiracy just so John would be distracted over at the Senate and the House could get work done in front of cameras and the world. How sneaky!!!

Now they get to sit in the calendar commiesty with all the other pro-gun bills.
I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.

Very good news indeed
Is there any danger that they will sit in calendars while the legislative session comes to a close.

The session ends in a month. Other pro-RKBA bills have been in calendars for more than a month and are still sitting there. You do the math.Monker10 wrote:Is there any danger that they will sit in calendars while the legislative session comes to a close.
When in doubt
Vote them out!

Re: Texas House of Representatives today-3 campus carry bill
If the most favorable campus-carry bills can't get pushed through, I hope we can at least get HB2178 through and decriminalize the matter. I'll risk being caught at school if the most that can happen is school trouble- not felony though.

I don't like the language on HB1356. It only authorizes CHL holders that work at the university, not students or visitors.RPB wrote:Texas House of Representatives:

Yeah .... Some schools "POLLS" and in Tennessee they are saying faculty and staff are ok, students no.JJVP wrote:I don't like the language on HB1356. It only authorizes CHL holders that work at the university, not students or visitors.RPB wrote:Texas House of Representatives:

Guns on Campus
Proposed law could allow some faculty members to carry concealed weapons on campus
Personal note:
"CWS"
When I returned to college at age 26, I did "CWS" (College Work Study) yeah, low wage, but say you work in Audio Visual Dept or Bookstore a couple hours a week ... you get
1)Staff Parking sticker and privileges
2) Use of Faculty/Staff break rooms and restrooms (yes, softer toilet paper)
3) You get more respect and better grades from the professors, as you are "one of them"
4) You are then "Faculty or Staff" .... and can carry if only this bill passed.
(Also, discounts on supplies/textbooks and first choice of used books if in bookstore, or read teacher's notes on overhead projectors in Audio visual to decide what teachers to get/and get to know teachers)
Heck, I'd pick up trash or even pull weeds a couple hours a week ...
Alternatively, teach a course, like one/two evenings a week.
Example: To teach a Real Estate course in the 1980s, you didn't need teacher certification, didn't even need a degree, but just needed to be a Broker ...
Think "Continuing Education" ... pottery making 101; Welding/Basket Weaving; How to make your garden grow ...
...
Where there's a will ... there's a way.
