Cotton debating John Wood re: campus carry tonight

#1

Post by Charles L. Cotton »

I'll be debating John Wood, the student that lost his girlfriend in the Virginia Tech massacre, tonight on KRLD radio in Dallas. We'll be on from 7:30pm to 8:00pm.

I'll try to grab it again and post. I know we can do that, plus it will probably be posted in the next day or so on the website. :thumbs2:

John Woods loves to argue that CHL holders cannot respond fast enough to stop a mass shooting.

That argument is rebutted on pages 29-30 of the "SCCC Handbook: Texas Edition."

The recent ABC 20/20 episode that tried to prove that same point is rebutted here: http://www.thedeadarmadillo.com/2009/04 ... d-gun.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

He also loves to argue that a shooting in which only 10 people are killed, instead of 20-30, is not really a victory and that we should focus on preventing tragedies, rather than on responding to them. He seems to think the two approaches (prevention and preparation) are mutually exclusive.

In general, Mr. Woods sticks pretty close to the Students for Gun Free Schools / Brady Campaign playbook.

I wonder if anything about what happened on my campus today will be brought up. The police (fbi, rangers, locals) response was really great. I saw 4? local cruisers and 2? white ford SUV's parked in the middle of the Lawn area. plus many others around and about. One of the white suv's might have been the news, but not 100%

Now Charles, be gentle to the poor kid!

. . . .well, not too gentle. . . .but try not to leave any permanent damage. "rlol"

How many lives would VA Tech Professor Liviu Librescu been able to save (besides his own), had he been able to have his handgun with him? Librescu, a Holocaust survivor, saved his entire classroom and could have quickly ended the situation had he been armed.
