Fort Worth father warned police his son might buy a gun for mass shooting

A Fort Worth father called police on his 27-year-old son, fearing the man was going to buy a gun and kill people.
The father called police Sept. 3 and said his son had withdrawn money to buy guns. Police have interacted with the man before and know he is diagnosed with mental illness, officials said.
The man was not allowed to buy weapons from several businesses because of his background check, police said.
So we have a prohibited purchaser who has some mental issues, trying to cause harm.
"He made multiple statements to officers indicating he was going to harm people," police officials said.
The man also said he wanted to kill as many people as possible and claimed he planned to travel to the Midland-Odessa area to kill people, police said.
I'm trying to figure out....why are these people targeting Midland-Odessa?

Sounds like the existing system works...prohibited person prevented from purchasing firearms.

I bet money if you look at liberal websites you will see that the shooter is probably well spoken of. 1) a sporing chance of expanding gun control at the hand of a privileged white male. 2) Hurt many who are killing the earth being part of the oil industry.

I get what your saying but if, god forbid, I ever thought one of my family was about to go off and start shooting innocent people, I would be forced to do something to stop them. Maybe by preventing them killing a bunch of people I would be saving their life.

That's not turning on your family. That's doing the responsible thing.

Attempt to get help for a deeply disturbed member of my family instead of allowing them to murder innocent people and be killed by police? Yes, I can see myself doing that if I couldn't find a better option for them.

In such cases it is a CRY for help not a true threat, any psychiatrist will tell you that. Maybe get them treatment but I say NEVER get the gov. Or Law involved in family issues. Any Attorney will tell you the same thing I just told you.

Understand what your saying but family is all you have in this world, friends will turn on you on a dime but true blood most the time is always there for you. Yes if i saw my son fully loaded with a ak-47 I would stop him but in no way shape or form would I get the law involved. Plus he has a good head on his shoulders. Listen to Nirvana- "come as you are" song or "rape me" song. You will understand.
