Just found out about this. Very good work, SCOTUS.

At first glance, it seems like “may issue” is nearly a thing of the past, and “shall issue” is the law of the land.

But I’ve only read the highlights of the article: Am I mistaken here?
Your best option for personal security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.
When those fail, aim for center mass.

With that SCOTUS ruling, one wonders what the effect will be in the short-term to other may-issue states. I think there are still nine of them, if you include Uncle Joe's home state of Delaware, and the big population prizes among them are California, #1; New York, #4; New Jersey, #11; and Massachusetts, #16. We saw huge numbers of first-time gun buyers during the 500+ Antifa riots of 2020. The current dem-driven crime wave isn't slowing down. If a lot more people living in Cali and New York can start getting carry licenses, my bet is that will include a boatload of people who currently vote democrat.

There's nothing to make the 2nd amendment suddenly seem sane and sound like deciding you need to have a gun and then being able to legally acquire and carry one. That could make the democrat non-strategic poor-planning committee sit up and take notice...as in maybe shut up about gun control. Especially if they lose control of both houses come November.

In my initial read, not only does it slam MAY ISSUE, but also slams placing an undue burden on meeting state requirements in places like Illinois where they are supposedly Shall Issue, but financial and training requirements are quite onerous.

Alito tells Bryer where to go.... :hurry:

https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/a ... to-uvalde/
In a concurring opinion, Justice Samuel Alito strikes back:

In light of what we have actually held, it is hard to see what legitimate purpose can possibly be served by most of the dissent’s lengthy introductory section. . . . Why, for example, does the dissent think it is relevant to recount the mass shootings that have occurred in recent years? . . . Does the dissent think that laws like New York’s prevent or deter such atrocities? Will a person bent on carrying out a mass shooting be stopped if he knows that it is illegal to carry a handgun outside the home? And how does the dissent account for the fact that one of the mass shootings near the top of its list took place in Buffalo? The New York law at issue in this case obviously did not stop that perpetrator.
