Got to add - my favorite in the article linked in the original post is the, cough, informative and balanced video outlining the democrats versus the republicans on gun control, neither of which is exactly an unalloyed civil rights group.

There is a pie chart showing the minuscule number of mass shootings by sickos versus all gun deaths. Yeah, I'm sure that was just a boo-boo, no intent to minimize the need for care (and restrictions) on the violently daft.

Yes, pistols suck as self defense tools. We carry them because we can as they are small, light, and easily concealed compared to the more effective long guns. What MSNBC does not seem to grasp is that a less effective tool is better than no tool at all. The late Paul Gomez said it well:
