If she's mentioned by me, I'm not providing her tongue twister name: socialist cortez is name enough - you understand immediately who I'm referring to...`

Am I being petty?

Nah, just not going to bother with her all those sy-lab-ules!

Whoops, I was inaccurate: marxist cortez...there I corrected myself -she claims to be a socialist, but if it walks like a marxist and talks like a marxist, then...

Medicare for all will save on funerals.
By her logic, universal Medicare would only Postpone funerals, but not prevent them. And that assumes the birth rates and immigration both don’t increase.

Regardless of who is paying for health care, why the US pays 2X per person more than the next modern country.
Because, in socialist medicine countries. Health care providers are state employees and paid 1/3 ot 1/4 of its counterpart in US.
Specialty doctors are self-employed millionaires who can retire after 10-15 yrs of work (age of 50). The most successful ones would establish a practice and can hire associates doctors and retire at age of 45. Nothing wrong in that other than there is no effective competition between doctors.

If what I read about this Special Snowflake is true, she comes from an upper middle class background and doesn't know one end of Socialism from the other. In fact, I don't think she really knows much about anything and seems to readily convey her vacuousness in every interview or speaking engagement.

But, she's the darling of the leftist media, which really describes about 90% of the media.

I'm really boggled that this mindless twit can get anyone to listen to her or even take her seriously for more than about 30 seconds.

We're really circling the drain at this point. It's not going to be that long before things simply disintegrate.

Under socialist medicine, they only perform procedures that are covered. It's like being in a crappy HMO with no self-pay option and you can't get a better plan. (Unless you're a politician or can afford to go to another country for health care.) They don't spend hundreds of thousands to give cancer patients a few more years. They don't spend tens or hundreds of thousands for trauma care for MVA and GSW without knowing if the incoming patient has good insurance, is on Medicare, or has no coverage and no money. No way Jose! They only spend money if they get paid.

Also, malpractice costs are very low. You want to sue the government because Aunt Hilda died on the table? :smilelol5:

Ocasio-Cortez is like a ditzy SNL parody of a young Marxist.

Or a dumber version of Roseanne Roseannadanna.

Do you seriously believe the high cost of health care is your doctor's bill? My wife's doc gets paid almost nothing but her chemo is $100K per month. Drug companies and hospitals are where the cost is.

The Doctors compensation is just an example. A couple hours visit of my 4yrs old son to the ER cost me $5,700. An illegal resident would pay no cent. This is another example. The aggregate is that the whole Healthcare system is unbalanced, overpriced, and tons of waste. Hospitals are for profit orgs and Health insurances are also in the same boat. Drug Cartels are in charge of the boat of gold.
Till date, the e-record system is not in place. Each time I go to my doctor, I get asked about my meds and med history. It should be in the e-record system. Why I am asked? Don't you have access to my e-record system? It should be law in effect by 2014. Drs are paying penalties instead of upgrading their IT systems.

Without hijacking this thread all I can tell you is that the doctors bill on the totem pole of health care expenses is at the bottom. The ER expenses you mentioned are virtually all facility fees. Been there, done that. Look at the EOB from your insurance company and you will see the real expenses. As far as EHR I agree. Very few clinics actually use their EHR correctly or even keep up the so call patient portal. Do you know why? Because they are all worthless. Mandated but worthless.

I am chronic patient with a kidney transplant, if I have to list them the 21 pills, 6-8 meds It would take while. Second, Why in the world Lab tests are so horrendously expensive if your do not have a health care insurance and health cares insurance pay 10% of the bill. I hate most LabCorp and the other one Quest. I called couple times to get my bill reduced as I did not have a health insurance before Obamacare and both did not want negotiate their bills. What a shame. Same labs work, I ordered at an illegal-residents serving clink and I paid $115 instead of bill close to $1,000.

Claiming that you are an illegal resident or acting like one, would save you 90% of the lab work bill and your Dr visit is just $35.

I know what you mean. I bring a copy of all of my meds and medical-surgical history to every doctor visit. They always change their systems (forced to by the government) and the old doesn't talk to the new. Like I said, it is not the doctor bills that kill you but the ancillary stuff. Drugs, lab, ER, hospital, all kill you financially. Your lab bill should never be more than what medicare pays. Good luck trying to bargain for that. My wife gets that shot that saves her a trip to the doctor the next day after chemo, $6-12K for one shot. Same price if she goes in or gets it for home use. Friend takes nausea medicine after chemo, 2 pills cost $700.
If you have insurance I recommend in Texas getting Blue Cross. They drive the best discounts from pharma, hospital, lab and docs and are easy to deal with. Some insurance companies pay much higher rates and you probably pay 20% of a much higher rate. Read your EOB when you get one to fully understand pricing. There is the actual charge, the amount insurance allows by contract, the amount they pay and the amount you owe. I have been going in and getting refunds with my EOB in hand. The actual charge is what the poor guy with no insurance gets and he will definitely be poorer. I am on Medicare but with what the government takes out, plan D and a supplement it adds up. At least my meds are all generic but they don't cover you for dental or hearing and the hearing aid I am getting closer to is pretty expensive. We definitely need a new thread for health care. One more money saving clue, you don't have to use the lab at your docs office. You can go to any lab you want to so get a lab slip and shop around with different labs for the best price if you are cash paying.
