Per the articles, somewhere before 0600 a police officer had chased a suspicious person into some backyards and lost him. A homeowner heard some "commotion" in his backyard and went to investigate. Seeing a person with a flashlight in the corner of the yard, the homeowner approached. According to the homeowner two shots were fired, missing both times. The homeowner fired four rounds, one of which struck the person, who turned out to be the police officer, in the abdomen below his body armor. The homeowner says the person did not speak before firing, and he did not know anyone was hit before other police arrived. Police confirm that the officer did fire his weapon.

As of these two articles, the homeowner has been questioned and released. The police officer has been to surgery and is in "good condition."

Video interviews of the homeowner at the links. It does not appear that he called his lawyer.

More to follow, I'm sure.

If it happened the way the homeowner said, the officer fired first and he returned fire without identifying himself, I can't image charges being filed against the homeowner. Would like to know if the guy the officer was chasing had a gun? If not why did the officer fire his gun? More to come for sure.

Still waiting for officer to recover to question him.

Looks like the homeowner has an attorney now.

And the family dog got shot.
