Seismic Quakemaker +M ammo...

Re: Seismic Quakemaker +M ammo...
Well, interesting. Picking up cases with a magnet is nice.
Random thoughts:
I tend to lean towards heavier ammo, but I wonder what makes this heavier than others?
Once the two-part case goes together, can it inadvertently come apart? That would be unhelpful.
And of course...price? Their website is very minimal, about three pages.
The SHOT show is in progress, I wonder if anyone will get to shoot it there?

Need more info and data to evaluate. Energy is proportional to velocity squared so need to see numbers and some sort of ballistic gel testing results (recognizing the inherent deficiencies in gel testing but still interesting none the less IMHO).

Do these come in APFSDS (Armor Piercing Fin Stabilized Discarding Sabot)?

Re: Seismic Quakemaker +M ammo...
I'm no physics expert, but I have my doubts about their claim of lower recoil due to slower burning powder. It will still require the same force to propel the bullet down the barrel. If it is too slow burning, it will be more like a flintlock, in that there is a delay between firing pin strike, and combustion. Which will not reduce the felt recoil, but slow down follow up shots. If I wanted heavier bullets, at lower speeds, I would switch from 9mm to 45 acp. I can't see this as much more than a very expensive gimmick. JMHO

You don't normally see 9mm being offered above 147 gr or 45 ACP above 230 gr.
This sounds like a lot of hat and maybe a little cattle.

SAAMI defines +P ammo.
+P+ is NOT approved per SAAMI.
Has SAAMI actually defined "+M" and approved it?
If not, do you want to use it in your firearm?

I would if I didn't carry a .40 and performance tests showed it wasn't a gimmick. It will be hard to justify over HST or Gold Dots but heavier bullets usually penetrate deeper.surprise_i'm_armed wrote: ↑Tue Jan 22, 2019 6:41 pm SAAMI defines +P ammo.

I would be curious to see how they perform in a carbine with extra velocity.

Yep, that was my first impression. And so expensive that most people would not even shoot enough of it to know if it is reliable in their gun. Or NOT.

Yes I'd like to know the specific weight but I was actually wonder what material they use to make it heaver? Depleted Uranium?
I'm going to guess "some will". People load non-standard non-SAAMI cartridges all the time, with different weight bullets and more/less/different powder etc.surprise_i'm_armed wrote: ↑Tue Jan 22, 2019 6:41 pm ...

Would like to see the actual ballistics and a full-up FBI protocol test.
There are so many configurations of ammo available today it takes some chutzpah to jump in to the market with a new offering. I'm will to wait and see if these guys really came up with sumpin' or not.
