HOUSTON — Five Houston police officers have been shot in southeast Houston, Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo confirms.

"We have had several officers shot. Please pray for officers," Acevedo tweeted.

The wounded officers are being rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital and Ben Taub.

One was taken by Life Flight. The other four went by ambulance.

Another shooting in another crappy ghetto neighborhood. Looks like gang taskforce serving a warrant to a really bad dude. Luckily they've put him down, hope the cops are all stable and make it through.

Prayers for these officers. Two suspects dead, but scene is still evolving searching for possible additional suspect/s.

Law enforcement sources tell me of the five officers shot, two are critical. I’ve just learned one officer was shot in the leg, one in shoulder, and one in the face. #khou11

Have I missed something? Five (5) officers sent to a single residence to serve a single warrant?

It was a daytime Drug raid on people with known gang affiliations. So far it looks like a pretty legit raid on some very bad actors. There are far too many no knock raids gone bad. But this one so far appears to wear the ring of legitimacy even though it went very badly.

Prayers for the officers and their families.
Some of those raids are military-style raids with helmets, shields, bullet-proof vests, etc. Some of them wear helmet-cams. Wonder if the shootout was recorded?
The officers announced their presence allowing the drug thugs time to get their weapons and start shooting. Maybe a no-knock raid would have been safer for the officers involved.
Please know and follow the rules of firearms safety.
