Seems he nuked himself, instead.

Now Irish Bob can quit and not be the first one out. He’s been polling about 1% as well I believe.

So it seems that telling people you are going to take their guns and, if they resist, use nuclear weapons on them turned out to be a losing platform.
Who knew?

He was never serious. The whole point of his run was to normalize the confiscation rhetoric and to push the field further anti-gun.

It’s called the long game.

I am thinking he was never serious about it. It was simply a chance to increase his name recognition.

I am concerned with the number of people for whom this approach is appealing. They at least verbalize support for eliminating anyone who opposes their ideas. Perhaps his time has not yet come to gather enough of those people together to pursue the Presidency but I agree that he has increased his name recognition and it might yet come to a point where he can press forward. He scares me a lot more than his stance on guns. He is a dictator in the making.

Let's imagine that Trump threatened to nuke American citizens over non-compliance. Imagine the news media after that.

And Smalwell said afterwards "Oh, I was just kidding." Would they accept that defense from Trump? They might point out that Trump actually has the power to deploy nuclear weapons. Well they put this clown on a stage upon which he was actively campaigning for that office.

I think he ran so he could rake in some extra campaign money. It's not like he's going to give any of it back now that he dropped out. He'll use it toward his re-election for the House race, after taking some for "overhead and expenses", of course.
