Ellis County Court Opened To LTC

Ellis County now allows open carry inside courthouse.
Gun owners who are licensed to open carry will now be allowed to bring their weapons inside the historic Ellis County Courthouse.

It's a change that was celebrated, but not everyone is happy about it.

It's a new chapter for the Ellis County Courthouse.

County Commissioner Kyle Butler voted against opening the doors, concerned about employee safety after threats in past years. He told FOX4: "Sometimes in the courtroom, it gets a little out of hand. You never know what people are thinking or what people are doing."
:banghead:
Yes, Mr. Butler, those of us licensed to carry are a wild, unruly bunch despite the fact that we are the most law abiding citizens of Texas.

And you still legally can't carry in the courtroom.

Interesting. I live in Ellis County. I’m confused, though. Not sure if they’re talking about the old, historic county building, or the brand new courthouse and county government building, or both?

Looks like they’re talking about the old historic building:

I, too, live here. I believe that it is primarily, if not exclusively, a museum now.

More importantly, I'm so glad our new county judge understands and respects the 2A. My vote for him and against her in the primary has aged quite well. Now about that commissioner ... :grumble

Well, there’s at least two of us in this thread willing to admit we live in Ellis County. Not sure how many of us on here frequent this board, though.
