New Colt Python 2020

I heard about this several months ago. I was hoping they would change their minds. My Python collection has likely taken a major financial hit. I even considered selling a few but just could not bring myself to part with them. Maybe I will get lucky and it will flop. Haha... Best revolvers I have ever owned and fired.

Like I said out of my price range. I would think your collectors would just go up in price especially the blued ones.

Unfortunately, me too. A few years ago maybe but times are a bit leaner for me these days. I am waiting to see what happens on the prices. I think much of the value increase was due to Colt discontinuing them. Just the same, I could not bring myself to part with any so I suppose it did not matter. They were always on my "last to go" list. I have loved the Pythons since I was 12 years old. My mom had one in Nickel that belonged to my dad before he was killed in Nam. She managed to lose it somehow. I remember looking at that revolver in awe from the age of 12 or so. Maybe my love for them is trying to find the one that belonged to him somehow.

They are still my favorite revolver. The 4 inch was the first gun I ever purchased. It cost $300 back in 1976.
I have not put a whole lot of rounds through it - maybe a couple of thousand. I still have it and it is still working fine.
I took it out last year and let Puma Guy put a few rounds down range.

I have seen that gun go for as much as 3000 on Gun Broker over the past 5 years. The average price the 1970 models had sold for was 2000-2500. I bet the prices drop now that they are offering it again.

I just jumped over there again for grins. Maybe not... A 1981 model in nickle has an active bid on it right now for 2400 with 4 days left. Others are still up there.

You are probably correct, but I'll never sell it and don't plan on buying a new one.

That was my issue as well. I just checked GB and they are still high. For now I am still not selling.

In my opinion, it hasn't taken a hit - knowing gun people, there will always be those who will value the originals over any new production (eg pre-64 Winchesters, original WW1 1911s, etc).

The video talked about an "improved trigger." The excellent double action trigger was one of the main selling points for the Python. Also it was well know for the royal blue finish. Now that most of the old craftsmen at Colt are retired, it will be interesting to see the 2020 version. It may be urban legend, but I read once that it took about 8 years training and practice on the buffing wheel before they would be able to advance to a job where they had to fit any internal parts.

P.S. I hope AndyC doesn't buy one. He'd probably end up taking off the barrel and putting it on a S&W.
