I find it interesting that the Berretta P92 (M9) manual gives specific instructions on how to load and fire single shot. Apparently it isn't quite as delicate as the the 1911 it replaced. But with the huge gaping whole created when the slide is locked back one could chamber a cartridge wearing a catchers mitt.

It can happen. Remember to at least cycle that daily charging round often!

All,
Thank you for all your input, Now that I know the issue is called "set Back" I can do some research on my own too.

I think the "don't drop the slide on a round folks" have it. I will keep with scraping off the mag and rotating ammo at the first sign of set back.
