So you won't be able to go down and get a shot at Walgreens; it'll have to be at some really high-end hospital facility or something like that.
Moderna's new vaccine announced today is 94.5% effective and does not require special refrigeration.

But Trump bought 1.5 billion dollars of the other stuff that's only 90% effective.

Did anyone else get a Harris County Covid alert on their cell?
I moved off that screen and can't find it again.

Agreed. I remember getting a couple back in the early stages of the coronapocalypse. Wouldn't be so bad if they were essentially click-throughs like Amber alerts, but these things trigger an emergency warning system type klaxon thing on my Samsung. I was working at the PC in complete silence when it went off two feet from me. If I'd had a cup of coffee in my hand I'd have spilled it all over the keyboard.

All to tell me: "Alert: COVID-19 is spreading rapidly across Harris County. Stop gatherings. Get tested. Wear a mask."

Really?

I have the missing child siren turned off.

But somehow my phone started buzzing like crazy this afternoon. No message, just buzzing.

People who complained about it said it was Covid something.

Dallas wrote about the Covid alert by our youthful County Judge Lina.

Funny, Houston press said nothing.

NYC schools shut down today for Covid.

NYC deaths seem out of proportion to the number of cases of Covid, wonder why?

How Would You Prefer to Spend Your Last Holiday Season?
https://www.lewrockwell.com/2020/11/jos ... ay-season/
“This will be the final Thanksgiving for 2.8 million (the annual all-cause death toll) of our fellow Americans. It could be my last — or yours. That likelihood is significantly higher for our elderly loved ones, too many of whom will not have seen or hugged their family in nine months,” Kay writes.

“The hard truth is that we do not know who will be around for Thanksgiving next November. What we do have is right now — this moment — today. We aren’t promised one second more …

We’ve already forgone countless once-in-a-lifetime events to mitigate a newly-minted definition of risk which takes only one variable into account. And have neglected to acknowledge that many of our seniors — the most vulnerable among us — don’t even want that kind of ‘safety’ because it costs precious moments with their families …

There’s only one ‘unsafe’ version of Thanksgiving for me and that’s failing to be present with my family, allowing weaponized shame and performative restrictions to keep us apart. God forbid one of us isn’t sitting at that table next year, I can’t imagine grappling with that regret. And if one (or all) of us get COVID, so be it.”
Handing out edicts, demanding we eliminate all the things that make life worth living in order to prevent the spread of a survivable virus that most people don’t even know they have unless they get tested is unconscionable and inhuman. But so is following these kinds of unconstitutional government edicts.

I have to say I’m surprised at the sheer number of people willing to surrender their constitutional rights and liberties in return for absolutely nothing. None of the measures — 6-foot social distancing, mask wearing, self-isolation and select business shut-downs — actually guarantee anyone’s safety. All we need is one infected person left in the world, and safety for all remains out of reach.

In the US 5.4% of the people who contract Covid-19 die.

253,458 deaths / (253,458 deaths+4,410,709 recoveries) = .054 x 100 = 5.4%

The problem with your calculation is that total cases confirmed actually exceed the sum of the deaths and recoveries. There are many confirmed cases for which the patient has not died but recovery has not been confirmed.

See the statistics at https://epidemic-stats.com/

When I most recently checked this site, the statistics were as follows:

Confirmed cases - 12,209,187
Total deaths - 259,737
Recoveries - 7,282,805

These numbers yield a percentage of deaths of only 2.1%, which is significantly lower and more in line with expectations.

I'm still using https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps ... 7b48e9ecf6 the John Hopkins website. Which is still showing 4.4 million recoveries.

By using total infected, you are including people who have it, but may or may not die. By using people who have completed Covid by either dieing or being recovered it is a more accurate view of the current situation. Early on it was more like 10%, but we are now more experienced at treating people. The percentage who died is still suffering in the US from the dismal outcome of patients in New York.

Texas is doing much better at 2.2%.

Cuomo to receive Emmy award for his Covid briefings.

I love the way liberals give themselves awards.
