I do have a question, though, for all of you 1911 gurus. What would be a good ammo to start out with for target shooting? Keep in mind this will be my introduction to this gun.
Thanks guys.

Congrats on your new baby!stoneface wrote:Just got back from the gun show here in FW with a late present to myself. My wife and I pooled the money we got from christmas with the determination to buy a new gun. She really wanted a Sig (and so did I) but we couldn't find one that we could settle on that was in our (limited) price range. However, we did come home with a nice Rock Island Armory 1911. This is my first 1911 and first .45 and I can't wait to try it out.

Yeah especially since you are in Tarrant county all of the Wally Worlds have the Blazer Brass for dirt cheap. Hard to beat the price with any other range ammo.striker55 wrote:I'd go with Blazer ammo at Wally World for around $9.50 a box of 50. Found the Monarch ammo shoots pretty dirty.
Had fun with you today, and OUR new gun, but you aren't stealing it for yourselfstoneface wrote:Just got back from the gun show here in FW with a late present to myself. My Wally World in Mansfield always has a good supply of .45 230 gr CCI Blazer Brass for 11.97 a box (50).stoneface wrote:Just got back from Wally World and they were completely cleaned out of all .45 ammo (figures--the one time someone was actually working the sporting goods counter). I guess I wasn't the only one who brought home a new friend this weekend.
