NW Harris County gas station clerk, alleged robber shot

Post by Lodge2004 »

Looks like a tie, but then again, it was 2-1 odds. Hope the clerk pulls through and is treated well by the owner of the store.

Robbers shot and wounded a northwest Harris County convenience store clerk late Monday but the clerk fired back and sent one of the attacker to the hospital in critical condition, the Harris County Sheriff's Department reported.

The shooting occurred at the Phillips 66 store in the 10000 block of Veterans Memorial Drive about 11:25 p.m., deputies reported.

The clerk was alone in the store when two men entered and opened fire.

When the clerk fired back the pair fled and one was hit by a bullet as he ran, deputies said.

The names of the clerk and the wounded robber were not immediately available this morning,

Deputies reported that the clerk was taken to LBJ Hospital in stable condition and the wounded robber was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition, deputies reported.

The second robber escaped, running north on Veterans Memorial, deputies said.

Anyone who has information about the case is asked to call Crimestoppers at 713-222-TIPS, Callers will remain anonymous.

My friend was just telling me about this, apparently his friend was the clerk. I've been to that gas station and I'll say that it is a pretty sketch area.

Sure is. Isn't that near the Gunspoint area?

They should have thought twice before hitting a store on a street with a name like Veterans Memorial.

And, perhaps, further evidence of a sea change in reaction:

Update from my friend:

"Alright guys here's an update...

First of all my friend is doing fine and hopefully will be released tomorrow morning after a CT scan...

He told me a black guy first came in acting really suspicious and fiddling around his pockets and looking around...he realized then something wasn't right and grabbed his 9mm and put it in his back pocket...as soon as the dude left, two other black people came in shooting. He got shot in the side but said he didn't realize it til much later...he pressed the silent alarm a few times and he then got up and shot the guy who shot him twice in the chest and as soon as the other dude saw that he took off running but my friend got him in the foot as well...he then realized the guy who he shot earlier was still moving around and trying to grab his gun so he emptied out his gun (3 shots) into his stomach...that guy died this morning.

He then went into his car and grabbed his other 9 mm just in case that guy who ran away came back. He called his parents then who were over at my house...

The End"
