I did a search on 30.05 but I am still confused. I was at the Henry b Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio this weeked and saw these signs:
Can I legally pass this sign?

IANAL but I think it depends on who you are and what you're carrying. AFAIK the sign has the same meaning for police officers and concealed handgun licensees. I'm not sure about security guards who are working there. Also I think a pocket knife with a locking blade might be a weapon in San Antonio. I'm not sure about an umbrella or ballpoint pen.kicker wrote:Can I legally pass this sign?
If you can read this, thank a teacher. If it's on the internet, thank a geek.

That's a really nice looking sign. Top quality stuff. I bet it cost a good amount to have it made. Too bad for them it doesn't mean anything.

From 30.05:
(f) It is a defense to prosecution under this section that:
(1) the basis on which entry on the property or land or in the building was forbidden is that entry with a handgun was forbidden; and
(2) the person was carrying a concealed handgun and a license issued under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, to carry a concealed handgun of the same category the person was carrying.
So the way I read it, notice the sign, appreciate it's artistic value and keep walking right by it. Doesn't apply to CHL holders. (I'm not a lawyer and this is not legal advice, just my interpretation).

Re: San Antonio Convention Center 30.05 Sign
IANAL but if I remember some of the earlier discussions we've had on the subject, posting 30.05 is almost the same as a gunbuster sign, just that if your carrying illegally, the punishment might be a little harsher. So if your carrying legally, with a CHL, please continue your foward movement past the nice looking sign, just remember to keep your weapon concealed, and no problems should arise. But remember, that if they ask you to leave, just leave, don't try and argue that the sign is next to worthless.
Any lawyers out there that wish to chime in and truely clarify, would be great

I stood in front of that very sign a few years ago, and ignored it.

I was there a few weeks ago. 30.05 is not binding on a CHL holder.

I was there in July and walked right on by that one.
