Another shooting for Houston

Post by Fangs »

Following up on a shooting mentioned in some comments of the 40-50 people robbed thread's news story:

A security guard at a game room in northwest Harris County was wounded in a shootout with three masked men who tried to rob the business early this morning, officials said.

Law enforcement officials said that the men entered the Magic Game Room at Veterans Memorial Highway and West Road about 9 a.m. as workers were cleaning the building before the business opened.

They rushed through the opened back door yelling and later began shooting. The security guard, who has not been identified, fired three shots from his revolver.

The men, who wore camouflage clothes and face masks, retreated out the back door and fled.

The guard was wounded slightly in his left hand. No other injuries were reported.

The gunmen have not been found. No arrests have been made.

Mrs. Oldgringo and I are planning on taking the RV down to the coast for a couple of weeks at the end of February. How does one get to Corpus, or thereabouts, from the Pineys without going through Houston? "rlol"

As long as you don't drive through any game rooms you should be OK.

This is ridiculous. McDonalds, LeViet, this Gameroom, and I want to say another one (I could be wrong) in the last couple weeks. This is insane and aggrevating. The thugs are just moving freely and doing what they choose.

I have a solution though...ALL businesses need to post 30.06 and Ghostbuster signs we all know those work since thugs obey the law.

The gameroom shooting seems to indicate that the would-be robbers would rather run, than stick around for a gunfight? I wonder if this would apply to the restaurant scenario, where if someone were to get up and start shooting, the robbers would make a hasty retreat. (I'm not suggesting this is the best course of action, just making a prediction on their behavior)

That is the other side of it. As much as we have complicated issues, the bad guys have as well. If someone fires rounds at them, they have no vested interest in hanging around and exchanging fire. Their first course should be to bail as quickly as possible. If they don't, then mayhaps its best this occurred (you as a CHL'r utilizing the firearm), as they are interested in putting their lives on the line for what they wanted to do.

it is not the size of the signs. There is an old rule in law enforcement that says signs don't apply to illiterates. I think this is the biggest problem.

My word...Folks...it just has to be the same three hoods that jacked the Mickey D's. They got away with it a few times so they just keep going.
