I bought an old Remington model 600 at a gun show for my son to use hunting. When I got it home I set it down but first and heard a click...It was the firing pin dropping. I racked the bolt and hit the stock and the firing pin droppen again. It would have shot had it been loaded. With the Safety on it would not do it. When I rack the bolt ,safety on and pushed the safety off...it would sometimes fire. I never even got a chance to load the gun. several Gunsmiths worked it and could not fix it. Apparently it was a recall back in the early 70's for this gun for this exact thing. I traded it to a gun smith for another gun...He collected Model 600 and 660's mohawks. He knew of the problem and wanted it anyway....

I don't load anything new that I don't trust at home. I'm getting a used Browning Hi Power this week and I will functional check it at the range pointing down range. Semi-Autos only get one round on the first shot, then two, then a full mag.

I also did this with my P22 after a total overhaul just to make sure I didn't break anything. It still drops the hammer with the safety on, but the firing pin is locked and the hammer is blocked. So I make sure it fires when it's supposed to and doesn't fire when it's not supposed to.

I think it's a good idea to know how the lock outs work. On my HK, I can poke the firing pin safety and make sure the pin moves and then let go and make sure pressing the striker doesn't let the firing pin move forward. I check it when cleaning.

Sounds like you need a new firing pin spring. Maybe some ammo with harder primers, too.

Yes I have , when I pulled the trigger....

No just playing , never had that happen to me , thank god...
