recommendation for barrel re-crown

I'm trying to get the barrel on my Sig P238 and Kimber recrowned/crowned and I was trying to find a good gunsmith that can do it without being a fortune. Someone close would be an extra, DFW area.

It's a little far for you, but Euless Guns & Ammo has a pretty good gunsmith, and I know he does custom barrels on bolt action rifles and such, so he might be able to recrown a pistol barrel.

It might be cheaper to just buy a new barrel and have it fitted by a smith... Unless you have some sentimental attachment to that one?

I can't imagine getting a new barrel for less than $200 and a re-crown should only be 30-60.

Are there no other good gunsmiths that aren't 5 mo. leadtime?

Why do you need to have the barrels recrowned? Andy told you how to do it yourself it's not hard.

On my sig I think I damaged the end, so the accuracy has gone down hill and I think a nice crown will help with that aspect.

I do appreciate the DIY way, but I feel much better having a competent smith do the work than myself with a drill, especially on the small .380 barrel. I would likely destroy it...

AndyC could probably rig up a 1911 trigger jig out of 2 popsicle sticks, a jujubee, a guitar pick, the file off of a pair of fingernail clippers, and 10' of parachute cord.... ....and it would be better than a Les Baer trigger. "Improvise, adapt, overcome" is his motto.

Jujubes are gummy candies to be eaten only by children. If an adult eats them they will stick like an adhesive to the fillings in your teeth and pull them out.

Wow, thanks for the pics and instructions! Do you have to keep the drill paralell to the barrel while you're polishing, or as close as possible. If you aren't perfectly inline could you cause the round to be biased towards one direction?

I would guess that the more sperical the polishing bit the better the results... I wonder if I can find some brass spheres... humm.
