Is it safe to submit before birthday?

Post by AnthonyTX »

I swear I searched but didnt get an answer I wanted :waiting:
GC §411.183. EXPIRATION. (a) A license issued under this
subchapter expires on the first birthday of the license holder occurring
after the fourth anniversary of the date of issuance.
So I want to maximize my first CHL so I should technically apply after my birthday that way I have 4 yrs + 10 months or so right?

What if I applied 3 weeks before my birthday? Is it worth chancing it that it might be closer to my birthday that I get it back? Could I end up getting it dated before my birthday and thus screwed a year?

What about 2 weeks before my birthday?

I actually would like to have it within 28 days of my birthday (I'll be heading out of town and would love to be concealing by then)

You would get booted out of the cup class since you are not 21. I'd way be patient

You did not give your age. You may not submitt you app until your 21st Bday.

If you are over 21 you may try to guess on the issue date if you wnat to be that close. Your choice there.

Good luck with that one. I was in the same boat and mine arrived in the mail a few hours after I left Saturday morning. :grumble

My birthday was the end of july, I submited 8/2, they are already done with my background, just waiting for them to print and mail my card. I did it this way, so that I could get as close to 5 years out of my first license. Just makes sense!!

If you want your license in time for your trip less than a month after your birthday, I think you should submit your application before your birthday. I don't think it's safe to cut it too close either, or you have a real risk of not getting it before your trip.
