shipping a rifle
Here's my question, I have a HK91 that is at a friends house in Colorado, I had taken it up there about a year ago on the plane with me. Now I want to get it back here. How can I do it with out flying back and picking it up.
Can he ship it to me, since it's already mine, or does it need to go through a FFL
And if it goes through a FFL will the gun then be "regestered" there was no paper work filled out when I bought the gun back in'84 and I don't want any to be done now.

You can have your long gun shipped to yourself, as long as no state law is violated: http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/faq2.htm#b7

It would seem that this would cover me, except another person would be shipping it. Do you think this would be a problem? Has anyone tried it, I sure don't want either of us to get in trouble.seamusTX wrote:You can have your long gun shipped to yourself, as long as no state law is violated: http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/faq2.htm#b7

(B9) May a nonlicensee ship firearms interstate for his or her use in hunting or other lawful activity?
Yes. A person may ship a firearm to himself or herself in care of another person in the State where he or she intends to hunt or engage in any other lawful activity. The package should be addressed to the owner. Persons other than the owner should not open the package and take possession of the firearm.

I had a bill of sales, but man I'd have no clue where to fing it now after 20 odd years and several moves. I guess it's better to just ship it to FFL, it's only a 25.00 fee, but i don't want any paper work done, since I didn't have any when I bought it. I'm a little worried about when they start coming for the black weapons......LOL, I better get out my tin foil hat

Wait a bit for someone with more expertise to reply about whether your friend can ship it.
You could just go get it. It's a 2000-mile drive, but not an unpleasant one.
"They" already know who "we" are. If you have a CHL, ever bought a weapon from an FFL, or used your credit card to buy ammo or shooting-related items, "they" know.

I realize that "they" know about some things, but not all things........
Of course if "they" read this forum they know now, LOL

So have him ship it to a local BCS FFL. I assume you have you CHL, so no back ground check needed... Shipping should be minimal since you can ship the long gun via USPS.
There is no Gun Registry in Texas so that should not be a problem.
As far as shipping the gun to yourself, I think that means just that. You have to be the one to ship the gun and the one to receive the gun.
