Colt Range Report - Its a Winner!

Post by Divided Attention »

I just got back from the range! We tested out hubby's new reloading handiwork, and put a few through my Colt!

If I had any doubts before - they are gone - I LOVE my snubbie! I can't wait for my holster to come and my speed strips so I can practice reloads and start carrying it! :anamatedbanana

I only put about 36 rounds through it as I was also trying my 380 with new loads and the SO's 9 with the new trigger job and new loads as well. However I would not have had any problem putting more through it! I won't lie - it is a bit brisk, but very doable. The trigger is delightful in double action, and I will admit I did not try SA as that is not how I will use it. On my first 6 the second round did not fire - TOTALLY my bad! You know how we wish our kids would learn from our mistakes.... well I wish I had taken to heart Doc saying what part of my finger to use - although in my excitement all I could think was "make Colt go bang!" I had my finger too far in the trigger guard and didn't pull through all the way and the cylinder did not advance completely so the strike was on the side of the primer. CompVest and Doc will be relieved to know I can be taught and adjusted my finger and had my "perfect grip" (LOVE THE GRIPS on this gun!) I had not an issue after this and was grouping in a small grapefruit sized area consistently at about 7 yards.

Easy to regain sight picture - or at least find the orange strip and put it back on target quickly (thanks for the safety orange Doc). I will need to get put some spent casings and practice my trigger pull to be more consistent in my body mechanics - its all about the muscle memory!

I want to thank everyone involved in the making of this awesome experience. Doc for the amazing Colt and some helpful wheelgun tips, Middle Age Russ for the bestest Valentine ever (even better than my heifer for our Anniversary), CompVest for teaching me "the grip" and so many other great skills! :grouphug
(can you tell I had a great time!) Who need caffeine when you have a handy Colt? Off to clean my carry pieces!

You are a lucky girl. I really wanted to have that Colt, but I just couldn't afford it right now.

I know doc, that gun is awesome! :coolgleamA: I would have bought it myself but discretionary cash is in short supply right now. Get yourself some snap caps or, training dummy rounds and dry fire and practice your reloads. A gun that nice needs to be used. :thumbs2:
