Smith and Wesson Bodyguard .380

I have carried a P3AT, an LCP and now the Bodygurad. Overall, I like it best. HOWEVER, about 1/3 of the time, I find the magazine is popped loose. I cannot tell if for some reason I am bumping the release or some flaw of the gun, but obviously I cannot keep carrying as is. I have called S&W and they said they have had no complaints or issues related to this. Any suggestions?

Didn't specify how you're carrying, but I suspect a high quality holster, either STIFF leather or kydex will solve your problem. If you're pocket carrying, keep nothing in pocket but gun in a pocket holster

You are right, I should have! I have a Desantis front pocket holster. I carried the other two for 4 years with same and never a problem. And as you say, I carry nothing else. Wonder why it would affect this one but not other two??

Interesting behaviour dumping the magazine. I also have a DeSantis pocket holster, the Superfly, which can be used with or without the extra flap, to use with my BG380. I have used the combination several times a week for months now -- in both front and back pockets -- without experiencing the magazine release issue. Please keep us posted as you track down the cause and cure.

Called S&W this morn. They were very courteous and said I need to send it back so they can see what is going on, and offered on their own to send shipping label. So far, I give them +1 for customer service.

S&W made it right when my disassembly lever/pin started coming out on its own. This was a problem with the earlier serial numbers that they had a known fix for. They sent me a new frame ( and maybe a complete new gun) which has not exhibited this problem since. I am sure they'll make sure you have a correctly functioning example in short order.

Have had this issue with a different gun awhile back. Hope s&w can fix it for you. And they have great cs there. I had a SW22a with a lot of round threw it sent it back to them and they basically sent me a new gun at no cost. Free shipping, replacing of all parts. Still have the gun today

If they follow through as good as the fellow on the phone seemed, I will be happy. Seldom have I had such a pleasant call with gun CS, with the exception of Ruger.

They fixed the difficulty of the removal of the takedown pin. On the mag drop, they said use a different holster. I use a Desantis Nemesis. If the holster covered the mag release, you wouldn't be able to get ahold of the handle. Sooo.... here is what I did. The release button on these sticks up ABOVE the handle, not flush or recessed. It is asking to get bumped. So, I put masking tape all around the button...a couple of layers and dremeled the plastic button down level with the handle. Problem solved. Even looks better!

I picked up one of these the other day and really liked it. What would be a good price for a new bodyguard? I've seen the online prices but the best gunshop price I've seen was $425. That seemed a little high to me.

Yes, that is high! The MSRP is $399.99. I got mine for $359.99. Is a good shooter for a mousegun. Has actual adjustable sites.

I like that it has second strike capability (though they don't advertise it does). The finsh is much tougher than most blued finishes I have seen. I personally consider the laser to be useless as these are "gut guns" except to puts a weight under the barrel that reduces muzzle flip and feels more balanced.

I don't know what the pricing is now, but a few months ago both Academy and Cabella's had it for $350 but they went fast when they got them in.
