Curious--City Offices and 30.06 Signs ??

Post by Piney »

Greetings--

I've been reading over the thread here titled Cities improperly posting 30.06 signs?

I had the location to visit the Baytown PD offices. On the main door to the "window" entrance where the Community Service Officer operates, there are two signs. One is a 30.06 sign. The other says somthing about "licenced or unlicensed possession is prohibited by City ordinance" (not an exact quote).

What gives here ? City ordinance ? What about the 30.06 sign ?
I understand prohibiting licenced carry in a jail and court building, which in fact this office may be connected to.

If I recall, there are similar signs at the Water Dept offices as well.

Cities are not allowed to regulate firearms, other than discharge inside city limits. The state legislature is the only entity that can do so. The ordinance is unenforceable.
