McKinney Hospital

Post by BrassMonkey »

They have big signs on all doors. They have the 30.06 language, ghostbuster and a red 51.

Question is, can they get in trouble for the red 51 from TABC? Also, does the presence of the red 51 negate the valididy/legalist of the properly formatted 30.06? I can post a pic if you like...

I don't believe that they can get in trouble from TABC since they are not a licensed premise (well, I don't think they are). We really only have jurisdiction over licensed premises and places that are illegally selling alcoholic beverages.

And I would think the presence of invalid signs would have no effect on the validity of the correct sign if it was there. Consider the ghost buster sign. It did not appear to concern you in regards to the 30.06 sign. In this case, the red 51 would have the same effect as the ghost buster style (none).

Thanks. the Red 51 is addressed in the CHL code and has a definite legal meaning. The ghostbuster sign does not. That is why I would question the impact of the 51 and not the ghostbuster.

Kinda makes me wonder... most hospitals don't serve alcohol at all. What's McKinney Hospital doing that it derives 51% of its income from sales of alcohol for on-site consumption?

I understand, but it doesn't really imspire confidence that I should be letting them provide medical care for me. I like the way most hospitals here are posted (with the ghostbusters or similarly non-binding signs).

It had better be some mighty fine liquor if they're making 51% of their income from it! That's got to be some expensive stuff. :cheers2:

I wonder who thought it would be a good idea to put that up, and what the discussion sounded like at the meeting where it was decided...

I agree, posting something as ridiculous as a 51% sign on a hospital does not inspire confidence in the administration of that facility. It makes them look like idiots. I'd write a letter and let them know how stupid they look and that I'm finding a new medical facility (if an alternative is available).
